2010 GOOD SH!T – Slingshot Response
I never thought I would say this about a board, especially a flex board, but the 2010 Slingshot Response is truly the "Sickest Board Ever" as named by Jeff McKee and the Slingshot crew. I have to admit that it was tough for me to even type those words since I have traditionally been a Liquid Force kind of guy.
Here is the timeline for myself this season: started on a Witness, which I have been riding for the two prior seasons, decided to try a Lyman and fell in love with the speed, pop and landings and them on a whim, decided I really need to investigate these Slingshot boards after I saw the 2010 model at my local dealer. I had a shop credit over at the dealer, so I used the store credit to pick up the 2010 Slingshot Response; figuring I could try it, wouldn't like it and then sell it on WakeWorld. Boy was I wrong...
A week later, I rolled down to see the boys at The Boarding School and was able to put in a weeks worth of sessions on the SBE. The first day at The Boarding School, I rode the whole day on my Lyman and then on Tuesday switched to the Slingshot Response. I found it to similar to the listed LF boards for transitioning edge to edge, but found it carried a ton of speed into the wake, which I liked. It's almost as if you can feel the board generating energy below your feet and then by the time you hit the wake, it's like a f'n explosion. Even though the Slingshot Response is a continuous board, it has the pop of a three stage. So you are thinking to yourself right now, well there has to be a down side, so you are probably waiting for me to see this thing lands like a ton of SH!T. Wrong, she lands smooth like butter, due to the flex, which is super awesome for people who have bad knees like I do. I had never ridden this board behind the boat and on my first set I was able to stomp all my tricks and land two new ones. At that point I was sold, plus hanging with my buddy Rob Jacques and being able to get all the in's and out's of the Slingshot boards was a huge plus. He was pumped to see me "supporting the cause" as he referred to it.
So if you find yourself in the market for a new shred stick for the upcoming 2010 season, the Slingshot Response should definitely be on you list of SH!T to check out. If you like fast, consistent, continuous rocker boards that POP like a three stage, land smooth as paint and still let you pull sweet ninja like buttery presses and manuevers, then the 2010 Slingshot Response is the board for you. It is my shred stick of choice and has made wakeboarding fun again. Check it!

I ride a 2010 Recoil and no one is talking about that board what are the differences between the recoil and reflex?

The are a couple of obvious differences between the three Slingshot boards. The Recoil is a true three-stage rocker, the Response is a true continuous rocker and the Reflex is a hybrid of the two and in addition to that the rails on the Reflex are turned up on it to prevent hanging up on rails.
All three boards have a unique ride, get out there and try them and figure out which one you like. I have a Response and a Reflex, Response for the boat, Reflex to get my press on. There will also be a Reflex CE this year for the cable park rats that need molded in fins to get a round the corners.

Dont have a dealer real close to me so went with the recoil after chatting with a few people online with all the pub about the recoil I am wondering if I made a poor choice. Seems its getting all the praise and I hear nothing about the recoil. I do love riding the board trust me just wonder if I screwed the pooch.

The Recoil is a great board as well. People like different things and the Recoil will work just fine for you.

I rode a recoil all last year, and loved it. I happened to break it at the end of the year, Slingshot replaced it with a response, which was my choice. The recoil has great pop, and transitions from edge to edge well. I found that you have to edge a bit harder all the way to the wake to make it work well. Atleast this seemed to be the case for me.
